About Career Seed
An Australian-built tool for the part of the job search that takes the longest.
Why this exists
Career Seed started from a small observation. Almost everyone serious about a job search ends up doing the same thing for every application. Open the resume. Rework a few bullets so they match the job ad. Write a cover letter that references the company and the role. Save both as PDFs. Submit. Twenty minutes per application, twenty applications a month, and most people just stop tailoring after a few weeks because the cost is too high to keep up.
The result is the high-volume cycle. Submit fifty generic applications, hear nothing back, conclude that the search itself is broken, and start again next month. The tools to fix this existed in the form of expensive resume writers and bespoke career coaches, but they were priced for executives, not for the people who needed them most. Graduates, career changers, people on JobSeeker, and anyone in the middle of a transition were left with templates and effort.
Career Seed brings the cost of tailoring down to under a minute and under a coffee a week. The free tier gives you a salary valuation and a meaningful number of tailored applications a month. The paid tier covers unlimited use for less than four dollars a week.
Who built it
Career Seed is built by Riley Humphreys, a software engineer based in Australia. The product is run as a small independent operation, not a venture-funded startup. That shapes a few things. Pricing stays low because the costs stay low. New features are built when they help the people actually using the product, not to satisfy a growth roadmap. Support emails go to a real person, not a queue.
The decision to focus on Australia first is deliberate. Most resume tools are built for the United States and weaken outside of it. Local salary data, local job boards, and local context (mutual obligation, ATS systems used by AU recruiters, the Australian resume format) are baked in from the start. International users are welcome and the tool works across the UK, Canada, and the United States too, but the home market is where the data and the writing are sharpest.
What we believe
- Tailoring matters more than volume. Five strong applications outperform twenty weak ones, every time.
- Price should not be a barrier. The people most in need of a tool like this are often the ones with the least to spend.
- The user owns their content. Edit any line before download. Cancel anytime. Take your data with you.
- No dark patterns. No trial that auto-converts to a charge. No asterisks on the pricing. No data sold to recruiters.
